| Market | Answer | Source and notes |
|---|---|---|
| Singapore (MUIS) | Haram | Not an E-number, so not on the MUIS additive listing. The answer above applies. |
| Malaysia (JAKIM) | Haram | HalalSnap holds no JAKIM text specific to this ingredient. The answer above applies. |
| Indonesia (MUI / BPJPH) | Haram | HalalSnap holds no MUI text specific to this ingredient. The answer above applies. |
| Elsewhere or market unknown | Haram | The same answer in every market. Only the authority a scan names changes with where you are. |
Why it depends
A khamr-derived ingredient added on purpose is haram for consumption, and cooking does not lift that. JAKIM, MUI, MUIS and the Shafi'i school all hold that cooking does not change the ruling.
